The Well Coffee Shop Opens on Tazewell’s Main Street

Businesses three years and under with less than 10 employees are eligible to apply for these dollar-for-dollar matching grants up to $15,000, and applicants work with the Small Business Development Centers at Southwest Virginia and Mountain Empire community colleges to prepare the applications to VCEDA.
Venus and Mike Laney opened their shop that serves specialty coffees and locally baked pastries in June in a historic Main Street building which once housed Clinch Valley Bank and two jewelry shops.They say being able to apply for seed capital funding helped bring their coffee shop dream to reality. Ridgeview Deli Mart in Dickenson County
Ridgeview Deli Mart and its Wolfpack Den in Dickenson County is another small business that received a Seed Capital Matching Grant. Retired educators Larry and Judy Compton opened their deli, convenience store and gathering place two years ago located around the bend from the county’s new Ridgeview High School.
